Program Focus
The artisanship program aids under- and un-employed Haitians in creating small business opportunities in the Saint Marc region. This program is offered to current literacy school students as well as other adults living in the city.
The program teaches adults artisanship skills so they can sell hand-made products to support their families and be empowered with knowledge of small business practices.
Progress
In fall 2019, interested students from Notre Dame de Lamercie literacy school began learning techniques to make bags and earrings to sell in the local markets. Unfortunately, the program was placed on hold due to Covid-19 concerns.
The program will restart when the school year relaunches in the fall of 2020 with plans to create new products and to teach small business skills to the students.
